How to watch Telegram videos on an Android box with no Play Store

Straight answer: yes. Plenty of Android boxes ship without Google services: Ugoos and other AOSP boxes, portable projectors, some operator set-top boxes. Tevegram runs on them, it just cannot be installed from a store that is not there. You fetch the file yourself, and Premium is paid with Telegram Stars since Google cannot charge you on such a device.

Install without the Play Store

What you need

Step by step

  1. Allow installs from unknown sources. The wording moves from one maker to the next: Settings, Security, then "Unknown sources" or "Install unknown apps". Some boxes ask the question only when you open the downloaded file, which is fine too.

  2. Download the app. Open the browser and go to tevegram.tv/apk. No https, no www. The file is about 18 MB. An older 32-bit box takes tevegram.tv/apk32 instead. If the box has no browser, any download app will do. The full walkthrough is the button at the top of this page.

  3. Open the file and install. The download notification usually opens it directly. Otherwise find it in the Downloads folder with the file manager.

  4. Connect your Telegram account. A QR code appears on the sign-in screen. On your phone, open Telegram, then Settings, Devices, Link Desktop Device, and scan it. No password to type with the remote.

Good to know on this device

Which boxes are we talking about?

Anything Android without Google services: Ugoos, Beelink and similar AOSP boxes, portable projectors from makers that skipped Google certification, and set-top boxes supplied by operators. If your device has the Play Store, install from there instead, updates then arrive on their own.

How does Premium work here?

A copy installed this way cannot make a Google purchase, by construction. The app knows it: instead of a paywall it shows a QR code, and the same lifetime unlock is paid with Telegram Stars from your phone. It attaches to your Telegram number, so it follows you to any other TV.

And updates?

They are manual on this route: nothing watches over the app. When a new version comes out, repeat the download with the same address. Installing over the existing copy keeps your account and your library.

Frequently asked questions

Is a sideloaded copy the same app?

Yes, same build, same features. It carries a different package name so it can live next to a Play Store copy without either overwriting the other.

Already bought Premium on Google Play, on another TV?

It still counts. Write to ralf@clapps.be with your Telegram number and the order number, and it will be reactivated on this device too. Do not buy a second time.
