How to watch Telegram videos on Google TV and Chromecast with Google TV
Google TV is the modern interface of Android TV: the Play Store is there, so Tevegram installs directly on a Chromecast with Google TV, a Google TV Streamer, or a Sony, TCL or Hisense TV running Google TV. Your Telegram channels become a video library you browse with the remote.
What you need
- A Chromecast with Google TV (HD or 4K), a Google TV Streamer, or a TV running Google TV.
- A Google account signed in on the device.
- Your phone with Telegram, for the sign-in QR code.
Step by step
Install Tevegram from the Play Store. On Google TV, the search bar at the top also searches the Play Store: type or say "Tevegram", then Install. The full name is "Tevegram: Telegram for TV".
Connect your Telegram account. A QR code appears on the sign-in screen. On your phone, open Telegram, then Settings, Devices, Link Desktop Device, and scan it. No password to type with the remote.
Pick your sources and start a video. In the Chats tab, tick the channels and groups you want to follow. The Media tab then gathers all their videos into one library. Playback starts while the file is still downloading, and every video resumes where you left it.

The profiles and multiple-accounts trap
Google TV supports several profiles and several Google accounts. The Play Store, however, uses one active account at a time, and it is not always your profile's account. If Premium prices do not load or a purchase is refused, first check which account the Play Store has selected (avatar, top right).
Chromecast with Google TV: which model?
The HD model (8 GB storage, 1.5 GB RAM) plays 1080p comfortably. The 4K model and the Google TV Streamer are more at ease with large files and 4K. On the HD model, keep some storage free: it fills up quickly with apps.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from casting from my phone to the Chromecast?
Casting sends your phone's screen or stream to the Chromecast: the phone stays busy and quality depends on Wi-Fi. Tevegram is an app installed on the Chromecast itself: it downloads and plays the videos directly, and your phone is free.
Does it work on an older Chromecast (the one without a remote)?
No. First- to third-generation Chromecasts only receive a cast stream; they do not run apps. You need a Chromecast with Google TV or a Google TV Streamer.
